FAQ
Q: How do I qualify for scholarship support?

A: If you are among the first 15 students expressing interest in the program you are on our preliminary scholarship list. If you are not in the first 15, you will be waitlisted and scholarships will be offered if members of the first 15 are no longer able to participate in the program.

To claim your scholarship you must (1) Be a Media Arts, Journalism or Communication Studies major in good academic standing; (2) have a valid passport at the time of departure (3) have booked the common flight by the deadline [in January 2010].

Q: I'm apprehensive about staying with a host family. Can you explain how this works?

A: Host families are pre-screened by AIB and are used to having exchange students in their homes. Students from past programs often cite their experience living with their host family as one of the best aspects of the program. Students and their host families (which often include "host siblings" close to your own age) often stay in contact long after the program ends. Many have made reciprocal visits to the U.S.

Q: How much money should I bring for my personal expenses?

A: That answer is different for everyone. It really depends on how much shopping, personal travel and socializing you want to do in Europe.
On average, students from past programs have told us that they spent within a range of $800-$1500 (that's
500-1000 Euros)

We recommend taking some Euros with you so that you have cash available for food or sundries upon arrival. We will visit a bank in Bonn if you need to convert additional dollars to Euros.
